INVITATION TO THE FIRST FILMUP! – SCREENING OF THE FILM GRAM SRCA AND A CONVERSATION WITH DIRECTOR JAN CVITKOVIČ

Dear students.

We invite you to the first FilmUP! event, where we will watch Gram srca (2024), a documentary film by renowned Slovenian director Jan Cvitkovič.

The film will be subtitled in English, and the screening will be followed by a conversation with the director in Slovenian, where viewers will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the making of the film, the director’s decisions, and the message the film conveys.

About the film:
The creators of the documentary film “Gram srca” entered the world of addiction and accompanied addicts on the streets of Ljubljana, who in interviews confessed their own experiences of the harmful consequences of drug use … loss of home, broken and destroyed families, child abductions, prostitution, HIV infections, physical violence, alcoholism …

Director’s statement:
“I have met all kinds of addicts. Almost all of them have one thing in common. The lack of warmth and security in childhood. There is a hole left that they try to fill. And they fill it, and fill it, and fill it. But it will not be filled. With no gram.”

The event is intended for all employees and students of UP who are interested in modern documentary film, the creative process of a film director, or who want to learn more about the issues that the film highlights.
