LECTURE: TRAINING FOR DATA STEWARDS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF VIENNA
On Wednesday, 1 October 2025, at 11.30 you are invited to the online lecture titled Training for Data Stewards at the University of Vienna. The lecture will be given by Haris Zukić (UP UK). The event will be streamed online via Zoom (https://upr-si.zoom.us/s/62590725671, 625 9072 5671). The lecture will be held in Slovenian.
Since October 2022, the University of Vienna has been offering a continuing education program for Data Stewards, accredited with 15 ECTS credits and a certificate. The program is organized in collaboration with experts from other leading universities in the field of open science. Participants in the certified program gain fundamental knowledge in legislation, data management, ethics, and integrity. A key focus is on the FAIR principles (Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reusability), which enable open access to research data for the public while protecting intellectual property rights.
In the academic year 2024/2025, 27 participants from various European countries enrolled in the program, including Haris Zukić from the University of Primorska Library. His participation was made possible through funding from T4EU and the Open Science Action Plan. During the event, he will share his experience and present his final project from the training—a study on the availability of data in original scientific articles from the University of Primorska, conducted together with Dr. Ana Slavec (UP FAMNIT and UP IAM InnoRenew CoE), and published in the Social Science Data Archive (ADP).
Haris Zukić studied Cultural and Social Anthropology at the University of Vienna and has specialized in open science as an academic librarian at the University of Primorska Library.
