PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION ABOUT A MULTI-AUTHOR SCIENTIFIC MONOGRAPH TRST, TO JE TAM, KJER JE BORIS PAHOR
On Wednesday, 19 February 2025, at 18.00, we kindly invite you to the premises of the UP University Library (Trubarjeva 1, Koper) to the presentation of a multi-author scientific monograph by prof. dr. Urška Perenič and prof. ddr. Igor Grdina:
Trst, to je tam, kjer je Boris Pahor
The guests of the evening will be editors of the publication, prof. Dr. Urška Perenič and prof. ddr. Igor Grdina, doc. dr. Ignacija Fridl Jarc and prof. Adrijan Pahor. The conversation will be led by assoc. prof. PhDr. Jonatan Vinkler, PhD. The presentation will be held in Slovenian.
Boris Pahor is more than just a century of human conscience: the literature he created is still a catalyst today – and at the same time a litmus. Can’t stand indifference. On one side are loyal readers, on the other are powerful people who do everything they can to ensure that his three-fold no to totalitarianism is not heard and echoed. Or to be falsified, reduced, diminished.
But after his death, Pahor’s literature by no means fell into the temporary oblivion that is common in the years when current affairs readers say goodbye and those who discover an eternal companion in the creator are not yet there. While opinions are divided as to whether Pahor, as a rebellious man, is already a classic like his friend Edvard Kocbek.
The present book therefore strives to be an active tribute to the writer and his world. It is designed in a mosaic way: it focuses on individual aspects of Pahor’s work – and as such, it either continues and deepens previous research or expands it and creates a creative-reception dialogue where there has been none before.
Scientific monograph Trst, to je tam, kjer je Boris Pahor, which was published by Slovenska matica, will also be available for sale on the day of the event.
After the presentation we invite you to join the informal conversation and socialising.
The event will also be broadcast online (Zoom: https://upr-si.zoom.us/s/96646733842, Meeting ID: 966 4673 3842).
You are cordially invited.
The event is part of the activity A6.2.1/4.4 (Promotion of Slovenian science in the context of Open Science principles).
