TRAVELOGUE LECTURE: THE HITCHHIKER’S GUIDE TO AUSTRALIA
On Thursday, 19 March 2026, at 14:00 you are invited to the premises of the Dislocated Unit Library UP FTŠ – Turistica for the second travelogue lecture The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Australia. The lecturer will be traveler Jaka Godejša. The lecture will be held in Slovenian.
About the travelogue lecture
What does life in Australia look like from the perspective of a student on a research visit?
This lecture is based on my three-month experience living in Geelong, Australia, made possible by the ASEF (American Slovenian Education Foundation). During this time, I was hosted by Dr. Kaja Antlej at Deakin University. Through photographs and stories from the journey, I will present life at the university, meeting people from different parts of the world, and several distinctive aspects of Australian culture and environment.
The central thread of the lecture is an approximately 2,500-kilometre road trip from Melbourne to Uluru, through which we will explore some of Australia’s most recognizable landscapes and landmarks, such as Great Ocean Road, Uluru, Kata Tjuta, Kings Canyon, and the underground town of Coober Pedy. The travelogue will be enriched with photographs by Alan Bučar.
About the lecturer
Jaka Godejša is completing the Master’s program in Tourism at the University of Primorska, Faculty of Tourism Studies – Turistica. He completed his bachelor’s thesis under the mentorship of Dr. Dejan Križaj on the use of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) at events. As part of this work, he organized the first dinner in Slovenia where guests made reservations by purchasing an NFT via a blockchain network.
Before continuing his studies at the postgraduate level, he worked at the internationally oriented startup Fairbnb.coop, with which he was accepted into the renowned MIT Design X incubator in Venice. He is an ASEF Junior Fellow 2024, which enabled him to undertake a 10-week research visit at Deakin University in Australia under Dr. Kaja Antlej.
