Mentoring relationships in the processes of scientific collaboration and knowledge production
12:05-12:45 │ Assoc. Prof. dr. Luka Kronegger, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana
The purpose of the lecture is to present the results of the project entitled »Mentoring relationships in the processes of scientific collaboration and knowledge production«. The research project addressed mentoring as a specific form of scientific collaboration and a key mechanism for knowledge transfer and career development. The project addressed a gap in existing research, which typically treats mentoring and scientific collaboration separately, paying less attention to their interconnectedness and the role of mentoring in knowledge production. The main aim was to develop and empirically test a multilevel model of the mentoring relationship that connects the individual characteristics of mentors and mentees, the institutional context, and the structure of scientific networks and knowledge. The presentation of the project results can be found at the link.

(Un)attractiveness of researchers’ careers in Slovenia: factors, reflections, and considerations
12:50-13:30 │ Prof. dr. Boštjan Udovič, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana
The purpose of the lecture is to present the results of an empirical study on the career development of researchers in Slovenia. This is the first comprehensive national study, which included 1,000 researchers, showing the opinions of researchers on which factors promote and which hinder the development of an individual’s research career.
